Why Ganesh Himal Bags?
In 1984 when we first started Ganesh Himal Trading we decided to seek out producer groups in Nepal that worked with marginalized people, particularly women and Tibetan refugees, so they could gain access to trading relationships that allowed them to lead dignified lives. Our strong relationships with talented artisans have resulted in our wide selection of Fair Trade bags that focus on sustainability, functionality and style. We work closely with our producer partners to incorporate traditional weaves in to best-sellers.Our wide-range selection of bags includes:
- Day bags
- Cross body bags
- Totes & backpacks
- Computer bags
- Wallets & coin purses
- Gift bags
Recycled and locally woven materials
We look for every opportunity to create beautiful and functional products by recycling what would otherwise be trash to benefit the planet and local artisans. We also source local Nepali weaves to help traditional handicrafts survive. Our bags use:- Recycled silk saris
- Recycled rubber inner tube tires
- Sustainably harvested & traditionally handwoven wild hemp
- Locally sourced handwoven traditional cotton weaves
Thriving producer partners
Ganesh Himal Trading incorporates the Fair Trade principles in the creation of all of our bags. We work with a variety of producer partners who receive a fair wage. Our long-term partners in bag-production include:- Women who weave wild hemp
- Villagers who sustainably tan our βno kill leatherβ
- Paraplegics who sew recycled tire bags
- Tailors who sew & embroider cotton bags
